Indigenous Peoples all over the world are facing one single unifying issue, which is how they are to protect their territories and stop the “asset stripping” that robs them of their livelihoods and the foundation of their cultures and traditions . Without land and control of their assets, Indigenous Peoples are destined to remain the world’s poorest communities – with the worst health, highest mortality rate and shortest life span.
Through public awareness campaigns, partnerships with governments, corporations and other organizations, Indigenous-led development efforts and a worldwide network of Indigenous advocates, Giselle aims to help the Indigenous Peoples in securing their rights.
As Professor of Humanities at Miami Dade College, Giselle is actively using her platform to educate on the proper history of indigenous peoples, especially American natives, in hopes of bringing awareness to their culture and creating a movement that can begin to reconcile America’s sordid past.
Giselle believes that the wisdom of the ancestors and carriers of these indigenous traditions holds the key to healing humanity by remembering the basics and simplicity of taking care of our Mother Earth.
She is actively working first hand with many leaders of different tribes from the North American Mexica Indigenous Peoples, to the Amazonian Huni Kuin Kaxinawa people, as well as the aboriginals of Australia.
In November 2016, Giselle will embark on a journey to a summit being held in Cape Town, South Africa to participate in a spectacular meet-up of leaders and teachers of various different tribes from all 7 continents of the world. She will also perform for their music festival there with other musicians of indigenous music.
